Indigo Vineyard Beechworth Pinot Noir 2021

Description

93 Points – Jeni Port

The Indigo Vineyard is located near the hamlet of Everton in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. The warm days and cool nights, along with granitic sand and clay loam soils, provide ideal conditions for producing outstanding wines. A winery that has been a longtime grapes grower for Brokenwood, Indigo Vineyard has emerged as one of the most impressive wineries of the famed Beechworth region.

This 2021 Indigo Vineyard Beechworth Pinot Noir is another fresh, vibrant style opening with lovely lifted aromatics of strawberry, cherry and spice. The palate is elegant and beautifully balanced with upfront red berry flavours, cherry and some nice savoury undertones. Another impressive release of this Pinot Noir that always proves hugely popular.

“93 Points. Hand-picked fruit, 30% whole bunches, both barrel and tank fermentation, 10 days on skins, matured 10 months in French oak (3% new). Still early days for this youngster but already showing the class you expect from Brokenwood winemaker, Stuart Hordern. Right in the zone of dark cherry and blood, with some musky, floral hints and savoury spices. Holds the palate firm to the point of edginess with a dry cherry-pip finish. 12.5% alc. Drink: 2022 – 2029. Screwcap. $40”- Jeni Port, winecompanion.com.au.
